I’ve decided to start posting a snippet of some things that have happened throughout the week on Sunday evenings as it is also the time that I like to review my week personally and plan for the week to come. Unfortunately, I was a bit sick this week and had the worst sore throat I think I’ve ever had. Thankfully it was not strep, and now I’m better.*

My tomato seedlings are doing quite nicely, I think. I have a workshop light suspended from the basement rafters and I try to turn on the light each morning when I wake up and off when I go to bed. They are starting to get their first set of true leaves, and tonight I had to thin out some of the seedlings. It’s never fun to kill a plant unless it’s a weed, but as it goes with life, you can’t really overcrowd things. For more info on things that are sprouting and being sowed, you can check out the “Garden” tab at the top of my blog and look under “Garden Notes.” That’s where I am keeping a journal of planting/germination rates, etc.

I finally finished painting our kitchen wall this week after several weeks of patiently working on the wallpaper. Our previous owners apparently had a thing for wallpaper and borders, and while I’m sure it brought many people joy, the sunshine of that yellow floral print (see below) plus a blue and yellow flower border was just a bit too much, especially since we already had a big pattern going on in the lineoleum and a lot of warmth from the wood-stained cabinets. I know it is not that big of a deal, but I have never painted a wall before, and was proud of my little corner of the kitchen. I need to put some wall art up soon, but for now, I really enjoy the gray (the color is Martha Stewart Whetstone Gray, for those who are interested).

This is the wallpaper that was on there before.

The weather has been swinging wildly this week. We have escaped a lot of the tornadoes other parts of the midwest have been experiencing, but have had some strange weather nonetheless, with 70′s one day and then snow two days later. This week it’s supposed to be in the 70′s and even 80′s the whole week. I guess I should go dig up my shorts from the basement!
Have a great week!
*as a side note, I have found sipping/gargling a diluted drink of apple cider vinegar and honey has cured more than one thing for me lately – an onset of mastitis twice, and the sore throat. The sore throat could have gone away by itself, but it was interesting that within a day of drinking the solution, I had zero symptoms. Google it for yourself and see what you think.
Way to go on the kitchen Jenni! It looks great. :) Especially after that busy wallpaper, I’m sure you’re enjoying the clean fresh feel!
Oh, and thanks for the sore throat/mastitis tip. I’m going to keep that in mind for next time.
