When my mom recently visited, she gave me this great idea for spice mixes. I love making things like Indian potato samosas from scratch, but sometimes the mental hurdle of getting out all the spices can keep me from doing it. She suggested tiny plastic ziploc jewelry bags. We got a package of 100 bags from Hobby Lobby for just over $2, and with a 40% of coupon you could probably even do it for less.
In a spare moment while the boys were playing, I pulled out my spices, lined up some small stainless steel bowls, and measured out the spices in each cup. I then took a funnel and put them in the ziploc bags. Because it’s just spices, I wrote the name in permanent marker. When I’m done with them, I can just refill them again.
