bless you, you are doing a good job! I like the crazy quilt analogy. Now that my "baby" is 18 months, I realize I have gotten very good at efficiently using those scraps of time. I'm always ready to do something in 5 minutes time!

I supplemented with my son for the first few weeks, and then my supply picked up and we didn't need to anymore. Do you have a pump? I'd nurse him and then supplement and then pump. It was laborious, but it did eventually help my supply.

He's beautiful.

Hi Jennifer,
Don't know if you remember me (from Mosaic), but anyhoo, I came to your website via Facebook, and I started reading a few of your most recent entries since the arrival of Dylan. Always nice to read about the perspective of a mother of a newborn...oh those days were SO exhausting... I was too tired to even write down my thoughts in words, and sometimes I wish I had recorded more.
Anyway, and then I started reading your profile, and just wanted to say I started reading MSM's website after our son was born, and have also found her website to be very useful in our frugal living/budgeting(so cool that you were a guest blogger on her site )~!...we are currently living in Orange County, also comparable to the living costs of the Bay Area, and we recently had to work out our a budget to live off Tim's grad school stipend of $26K, so I can be a stay at home mom and still remain debt free. God has really provided so much for us with everything.

And love your posts on living simply yet richly!

Hey! If you're going to be using formula I have a sample can (or two possibly) you can have. I got a bunch this time around for some reason. Also I have a bunch of Similac checks if you are interested in those. They even accept them at Costco...

I've really enjoyed reading your perspectives on life in your blog this past year. It has been an inspiration to me as I plan to begin my journey as a new stay-at-home mom early next year.

Congratulations on your new little one!! I'm about to start a Bradley childbirth class soon...our instructor recently posted on her blog about a new book she got that helped her with the low milk supply issue. It's called, "The Breastfeeding Mother's Guide to Making More Milk" by Diana West & Lisa Marasco. You can read her review of this book at: http://healthybirths.blogspot.com/2009/09/making-more-milk.html
You might also find the following website helpful:
www.lowmilksupply.org
Perhaps you already know about these...I hope they're helpful!

Thanks, Margo :). I keep telling myself that it does get better, and I know it does, it just takes a little extra reminding during the tough days :). Today was a little better - Dylan took a couple of longer naps, which really helped me to spend time w/Eli, and on top of that, the weather was much cooler - it's been in the 90's in our apartment this past week!

oh my dear. My second is now 17 months. I remember how amazingly hard it was to juggle them at first and truly, a newborn takes so much time. And to worry about breastfeeding on top of it!
I'm glad you're seeing a lact consultant - hopefully she can really help. I have read that milk-supply issues are rare, so I hope you're not one of the rare ones.
And I had a terrible time breastfeeding my first (2 nursing strikes before she was 3 months old - reflux - cried all the time) and really enjoyed nursing my second. I hope that is your experience too.
I know we've never met/talked, but my heart goes out to you as it does to all mothers of new babies. I'll be thinking of you - it DOES get better! This morning my kids played together without fighting, out of my hair, while I worked at blistering speed in the kitchen. Yahooooo!!

oh I'm SO GLAD it was only powder! My friend's son recently got a stick of butter and smeared it carefully all over their television while she was busy. It's amazing how much patience God can give when it's needed ;)
