Do you have a pump? I'd nurse him and then supplement and then pump. It was laborious, but it did eventually help my supply. He's beautiful. Always nice to read about the perspective of a mother of a newborn...oh those days were SO exhausting... I was too tired to even write down my thoughts in words, and sometimes I wish I had recorded more. Anyway, and then I started reading your profile, and just wanted to say I started reading MSM's website after our son was born, and have also found her website to be very useful in our frugal living/budgeting(so cool that you were a guest blogger on her site )~!...we are currently living in Orange County, also comparable to the living costs of the Bay Area, and we recently had to work out our a budget to live off Tim's grad school stipend of $26K, so I can be a stay at home mom and still remain debt free. I keep telling myself that it does get better, and I know it does, it just takes a little extra reminding during the tough days :). Today was a little better - Dylan took a couple of longer naps, which really helped me to spend time w/Eli, and on top of that, the weather was much cooler - it's been in the 90's in our apartment this past week! My second is now 17 months. I remember how amazingly hard it was to juggle them at first and truly, a newborn takes so much time. And to worry about breastfeeding on top of it! I'm glad you're seeing a lact consultant - hopefully she can really help. I have read that milk-supply issues are rare, so I hope you're not one of the rare ones. And I had a terrible time breastfeeding my first (2 nursing strikes before she was 3 months old - reflux - cried all the time) and really enjoyed nursing my second.
